Pablo Youngs is a contemporary spray paint artist, designer, and printmaker who works and lives in Warwick, Rhode Island. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island (2017) with a BFA in visual arts with a focus on painting and graphic design. His work explores the art of stenciling by cutting out graphic images and spray-painting them on canvas, creating dense designs and patterns with heavy use of vivid complimentary colors.

His work displays a reverence for pop culture, pop art, and musical and visual influences from various fields and disciplines while also echoing his Latin American heritage. Having grown up in a childhood surrounded by Mexican, Latin American, and Native American patterns and imagery, Pablo’s artwork and designs reflect heavy influence from these cultural backgrounds. The use of bright and saturated colors against complimentary colors is a technique Pablo has been exploring since he graduated from college. The patterns and compositions created from layering stencils is a result of many different directions being refined and focused towards graphic design principles.
Pablo’s creative influences include many different artists throughout history from many different backgrounds and mediums. Many of these influences include the lives and works of Francisco Goya, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Shepard Fairey and Bruce Timm among many others. His work also draws heavy influence from some of the musical artists he grow up listening to, whether it be visual artistic imagery or thematic composition. He owes a lot of his direction, focus, eye for composition and attention to detail from the influence and motivation these artists provide.

Pablo’s work has been on display at the URI Fine Arts Gallery, Hera Gallery, The Avenue Concept, The Providence Art Club, the HeARTspot Art Center and Gallery, and La Galería del Pueblo.
