HISTORY: These Pláticas @RILA were initiated in 2016 and co-facilitated by RILA and Trinity Repertory Company and the main focus was to bring together Latinx theater makers to talk about Teatro en El Verano. Discussions soon turned to the creation of RILA's Latinx Teatro Initiative and as our list of Latinx actors grew, Orlando Hernández, RILA's Performing Arts Programs Coordinator, began convening weekly script readings of plays written by Latinx playwrights, while still leading the monthly pláticas.
In 2020, Orlando was joined by Tatyana-Marie Carlo and together, they were able to re-image the pláticas and began facilitating a monthly series of Latinx Tech Hacks — workshops, discussions and informal conversations. The pláticas were also expanded to include all of RILA's Latinx artists network: visual artists, dance performers, music creators and performers, writers, videographers, theater, and more.
