A Call for Teaching Visual Artists | Spring 2023

We are looking for Teaching Visual Artist to work with youth at Providence Recreation Centers After-School Program from April 17-June 2, 2023.
A Latinx bilingual/bicultural individual will make an ideal candidate. You will be working with Youth Teams ages 14-17, building teamwork and creating bonds. Your goal is for you and your Youth Team to create a mural piece either on the sidewalk, street, or wall.
The online application for this call can be found here. Please be prepared to submit two samples of your work – one that shows an art piece in any medium other than a mural, plus a public art piece (mural sample).
If you are not submitting a proposal, but would like to volunteer with RILA’s Museo del Barrio this summer, please fill out this volunteer form.
Details:
Artists can arrange to work one day or twice a week. Each Rec Center has its own hours, but generally between 3:00-6:00PM at one of the following Providence Recreation Centers:

Stipend: $4,000 per artist with additional funds for supplies.

- Commit to work from April 17-June 2, 2023, once/twice per week, between 3-6PM.
- Commit to attend Orientation scheduled April 17, 2023.
- Collaborate with and attend weekly meeting with fellow Artists, date to be determined during orientation.
- Collaborate with staff at the assigned Recreation Center.
- Offer classes and create participatory art making and creative activities to your assigned Youth Team.
- Execute public art on a sidewalk, street-space or an outdoor retaining wall.
- Promote on social media and your own networks.
The Project Team will:
- Provide site coordination and permitting as needed.
- Provide artist with BCI paperwork.
- Provide funding for all art supplies.
- Promote the project through press releases, social media posts, community outreach.
- Document projects through video and photography.
